Our boat Saorsa...

  • the name Saorsa comes from Gaelic, meaning freedom
  • custom built in April 2005-commercial, high-specification, 9.5m RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat)
  • powered by twin Yamaha 150hp Four Stroke outboard engines giving a comfortable cruising speed of 25 knots. With a higher cruising speed than conventional vessels, we can cover a much greater area giving you the best possible chance to appreciate the diversity of scenery and wildlife
  • central helm position so the skipper can interact fully with passengers and provide a commentary throughout the trip
  • comfortable, individual pod seating - capacity limited to 12 passengers ensuring excellent all round visibility and a very personal service
  • full range of the latest electronic equipment
  • licensed under the Maritime and Coastguard Agency Code of Practice Category 3 to 20 miles offshore
  • Workboat Endorsement for commercial charter- fully removable seating units- 900kg cargo capability

For those unfamiliar with the term RIB

RIB stands for Rigid Inflatable Boat, basically this means a rigid hull usually built from aluminium or fibreglass onto which inflatable tubes are attached. This clever concept couples the stability and buoyancy of an inflatable vessel with the excellent handling characteristics and seaworthiness of a conventional planing hull.

 

These boats are now used worldwide by countless organisations for a variety of purposes such as search and rescue (including the RNLI), military operations and wildlife tourism and research. They have all realised the unique blend of seaworthiness, safety, stability and sheer exhilaration that these versatile craft have to offer.
